Versamos sobre um projeto de extensão que busca qualificar processos pedagógicos no fazer docente, oportunizando espaços de crescimento, criação, prazer, auto e heteropercepção de contextos físicos, sociais, sensíveis e artísticos, além de redefinir concepções pedagógicas, cognitivas e existenciais. Ao fruir e interagir com processos de arte, essa, na dimensão constitutiva do humano, passa de área de conhecimento a evento configurador de sentidos e, nessa perspectiva, proporciona transformações, reavaliação de escolhas, abertura a novas possibilidades e olhares. O real não se deixa (...) apreender, é inseparável da existência e, ao se aproximar da ordem, dionisíaca, na forma da criação, desnaturaliza o olhar, bagunça referências, predispondo à abertura ao mundo. A ordem, criadora, integra e confere um lugar às coisas, e sua ética garante um princípio vital dinâmico que anima o social, assegurando o retorno de uma ordem nova, atravessada pela metamorfose. O processo, dialógico, tenta garantir a diversidade, a pluralidade, um ressignificar do ensinar/aprender. É desenvolvido por docentes e alunos de uma universidade federal com 75 educandas de 6 a 12 anos em situação de vulnerabilidade social e se estrutura em três momentos interligados: um processo formativo, uma oficina e uma avaliação com expressões variadas dos participantes e memórias dos acontecidos. Como resultado, temos observado uma compreensão alargada da teoria, da prática, da criação, da Arte e uma formação mais qualificada, atravessada pela sensibilidade. A imersão na Arte em seus processos, materiais, ações, eventos, etc. tem permitido transfigurar atos, fatos, realidades, posturas, a partir de dados do sensível e do inteligível, constituindo uma Metamorfose Pedagógica. Essa, autorreferente, proporciona a emergência de um espírito criador, crítico, irreverente, incerto, inconstante, ruidoso e mutante, mantendo aberta a possibilidade de transmutação, de metamorfose, decorrente do contato com a criação. Esse processo, em sua complexidade, tem, na experiência estética, a tarefa de instaurar uma cognição específica, que resgata o prazer da estesia e de um olhar mais humanizador. (shrink)

Este trabalho é parte da pesquisa que vem sendo realizada a partir de um olhar sobre o cotidiano da Escola Estadual Indígena de Educação Infantil, Fundamental e Médio Pẽptykre Parkatêjê, tem como objetivo trazer a experiência curricular dessa escola, articulada com dinâmica do povo Parkatêjê que habita a Terra Indígena Mãe Maria, no município de Bom Jesus do Tocantins, numa área que denominamos como o etnoterritório Gavião. The Demands of Liberal Education analyses and applies contemporary liberal political theory to certain key problems within the field of educational theory. Hermeneutics approaches the meaning of life quite uniquely: it grasps the intrinsic intelligibility of life by employing a universal concept of meaning, applicable to all phenomena. While other conceptions identify the meaning of life with values or scopes, hermeneutics starts from a grass-roots work on the meanings that are embedded at every level of reality. In this paper, I analyze this approach, especially focusing on Husserl, Heidegger, and Gadamer. First, I outline Husserl’s philosophy of meaning as developed in response to (...) the crisis of meaning. Second, I discuss Heidegger’s concept of meaning and his understanding of life as self-movement. Third, I analyze Gadamer’s concept of common sense and his idea of hermeneutic mediation that conveys the meaning of life itself. (shrink)

Este artigo é um trabalho de enquadramento conceitual, que suporta pesquisas etnográficas que enfocam a presença e a dinâmica religiosa do protestantismo-pentecostalismo na Amazônia. A hipótese que estofa epistemologicamente este texto - e os projetos antropológicos já em andamento e futuros - formula a ideia de que o aspecto étnico-cultural “caboclo”, como ‘tipo ideal’, é um factor crucial nas dinâmicas evangélicas nesta região. Esta construção conceptual está presente, entre outros, em teóricos como Eduardo Galvão, Heraldo Maués, Angélica Mota Maués e (...) João de Paes Loureiro – estudiosos da cultura amazônica. O objetivo é estudar as dinâmicas históricas e registrar, etnograficamente, as manifestações de movimentos missionários, de igrejas pentecostais e também de grupos menos institucionalizados, materializadas no forte processo de conversão e evangelização de comunidades tradicionais. O foco é analisar o impacto destas expressões religiosas em diversos tipos de grupos socioculturais amazónicos e de que forma estas comunidades, agora convertidas, ressignificam, criam e desenvolvem novas expressões do sagrado, formando o que estamos a denominar de ‘pentecostalismo caboclo’. Background Nursing professional values form the basis of nursing interventions and serve as a guide for professional practice, reflecting in all interactions with patients and other healthcare professionals. As nursing professional values constitute powerful influencers in nursing practice, a strong commitment to these values is essential for nursing students to provide high-quality care. Aim To evaluate the impact of high-fidelity simulation training on first-year nursing students’ nursing professional values acquisition. Research design Quasi-experimental study using a longitudinal design with a single (...) group pre- and post-intervention evaluation. Participants and research context 202 first-year nursing students at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) participated in the study between September 2023 and May 2024. Their nursing professional values were compared at baseline and after the simulation experience using the “Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised” (NVPS-R). The acquisition of these values was also evaluated using a verification list during simulation sessions. Five simulated scenarios recreated ethics dilemmas, where students should manage conflictive situations with a standardized patient. Ethical considerations The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee from the Complutense University of Madrid (reference code: CE_20231116_18_SAL). Results Most of the students (84.87%) acquired the nursing professional values needed to manage adequately simulated ethical dilemmas. Nursing students significantly improved their nursing professional values after the simulation sessions. The effect size was medium for the “professional expertise” and “professional mastery” dimensions, and the total score of NVPS-R, whereas the obtained effect size was small for the “ethics” dimension. Conclusion High-fidelity simulation training using standardized patients allows first-year nursing students to acquire and improve nursing professional values. The inclusion of simulation training programs in nursing study plans to foster nursing professional values is needed to train undergraduate nursing students, providing them with the necessary ethical concepts and principles for their future clinical practice and ensuring high-quality care. The 1850s through early 60s was a transformative period for nascent studies of the remote human past in Britain, across many disciplines. Naturalists and scholars with Egyptological knowledge fashioned themselves as authorities to contend with this divisive topic. In a characteristic case of long-distance fieldwork, British geologist Leonard Horner employed Turkish-born, English-educated, Cairo-based engineer Joseph Hekekyan to measure Nile silt deposits around pharaonic monuments in Egypt to address the chronological gap between the earliest historical and latest geological time. Their conclusion (...) in 1858 that humans had existed in Egypt for exactly 13,371 years was the earliest attempt to apply geological stratigraphy to absolute human dates. The geochronology was particularly threatening to biblical orthodoxy, and the work raised private and public concerns about chronological expertise and methodology, scriptural and scientific authority, and the credibility of Egyptian informants. This essay traces these geo-archaeological investigations; including the movement of paper records, Hekekyan’s role as a go-between, and the publication’s reception in Britain. The diverse reactions to the Egyptian research reveal competing ways of knowing the prehistoric past and highlights mid-Victorian attempts to reshape the porous boundaries between scholarly studies of human antiquity. Resenha do livro: ENKVIST, Inger. Educação: Guia para perplexos. Campinas-SP: Kirion, 2019. 142 p. Inger Enkvist é professora de literatura espanhola na Universidade de Lund, na Suécia e estudiosa das ideias pedagógicas e práticas educativas, com vasta publicação de ensaios e livros sobre o tema, analisando-o em suas aplicações em diferentes contextos. É conhecida por sua crítica às abordagens pedagógicas que se tornaram hegemônicas a partir da metade do século XX, as quais ela sintetiza sob o título de “ nova (...) pedagogia”, contrastando-as com os pressupostos teóricos e práticas da chamada “pedagogia tradicional”. Na obra em análise, a autora procura esclarecer o conceito de “pedagogia tradicional” ou “educação tradicional” que, segundo ela, normalmente é apresentado de forma superficial, pejorativa e até caricatural. Remete-se à filosofia clássica para apresentar os fundamentos dessa tradição que já vem sendo negada desde que a educação passou a ser pensada dos pontos de vistas utilitarista e igualitarista, desde o século XIX, culminando na hegemonia de tais pressupostos em meados do século XX. Aponta a crise atual como, em grande parte, consequência dessa “nova” percepção. Nessa abordagem introdutória, propõe aos educadores o aprofundar-se no conhecimento dos conceitos e princípios educação tradicional, refletindo sobre as suas implicações práticas e os resultados obtidos por países que ainda os adotam. Realiza também uma avaliação dos pressupostos da “nova pedagogia” e as suas possíveis relações não apenas com os resultados da educação escolar, mas implicações sociais mais amplas. Aborda as diversas aplicações do conceito de educação e espaços onde ela é realizada, delimitando o seu enfoque a educação escolar e as suas relações. Discute os fundamentos epistemológicos da educação, o papel do professor, sua formação e postura profissional, as disciplinas escolares, seus objetivos e métodos de ensino e aprendizagem, bem como os papéis da instituição escolar, do aluno e a imprescindível colaboração da família. Aborda ainda a educação como política de Estado, refletindo sobre avaliações dos sistemas de ensino em diferentes contextos. Enkvist (2019) discute inicialmente o conceito de educação em suas diversas aplicações e nos vários espaços de sua realização, enfatizando aquela que é produzida no âmbito da família e da escola. Nesse aspecto, apesar das diferenças de objetivos e fundamentação teórica, a abordagem lembra Brandão (2001), apontando quão amplo é este conceito e a diversidade de possibilidades de suas aplicações, sendo a educação escolar apenas uma delas. Mesmo sendo o objetivo da autora tratar especificamente da educação escolar, reconhece a necessidade de articular a sua abordagem aos outros aspectos e instituições relacionadas. Apocalyptic thinking permeates Paul’s ideas about the gospel, God, the present age, and what is to come. Paul in his letters not only writes about the revelations that he himself has received, but also how the gospel reveals God’s ultimate justice. Apocalypticism as an ideology is fundamentally concerned with justice and the expectation of a future intervention that will conclusively reconcile the injustices of the world with the justice of God. Though of course Paul never sat down and wrote an (...) “Apocalypse” or even an apocalyptic letter, his letters reveal glimpses of the apocalyptic ways Paul thought about the world and humanity’s place in it. This article reviews the history and main tenets of apocalypticism and then examines three fundamental areas of apocalyptic thinking as expressed in Paul’s letters: the idea of apocalypse as full disclosure, the apocalyptic promise of full justice, and Paul’s use of apocalyptic ideas to reorient his readers to thinking about true-but-hidden identity, both of the “present evil age” and of one’s current place in it. Paul draws upon and employs apocalyptic imagery to solve practical problems in his communities, equipping them to face the world with a full cosmic perspective. (shrink)

Addresses the practical implementation of the liberal educational ideal. Section 5.1 identifies the ways in which choice, cultural coherence, and citizenship fit together within an autonomy‐driven education, and also discusses three other possible liberal or educational aims that should potentially help guide the implementation of the liberal ideal: economic competitiveness, democratic self‐reflection, and equality. Section 5.2 constructs a public policy of liberal education, arguing for strict state regulation of schools as well as for school choice in the form of controlled (...) choice. Section 5.3 discusses the changes that would need to take place in the areas of legislation, pre‐service and in‐service teacher training, public dialogue, school accountability, and cultural attitudes about education in order to make the liberal educational ideal a reality, especially in the US and Britain. The terms “contemplation” and “standpoint,” as used by Lukács, have almost disappeared from the vocabulary of scholars studying the contemporary world of work. This paper aims to rehabilitate these terms by arguing that, despite its shortcomings, a Lukácsian approach offers a valuable perspective for examining labor experiences. I first outline the foundations of Lukács's reification theory by focusing on objective reification. Then, I reconstruct the concepts of contemplation and having a standpoint of experience by surveying Lukác's analysis of how different (...) actors in capitalism experience reality. I conclude by exploring the implications of reification theory for analyzing market-centered regimes of control. The article can be read as an invitation for researchers investigating the world of labor to reengage with reification theory. (shrink)

The recovery after the unprecedented pandemic crisis that Europe has currently been facing is strengthening the strong dependence between social, economic, and environmental fields, maintaining green investments and innovation at the core of the European strategies. Shifting to clean industries is a challenging mission that a complex network of stakeholders and their different interests must take into account. Within this network, the interplay between environmental and financial performance of a company represents a common point with a growing emphasis on the (...) transparency and the materiality capacity of the disclosed information. This paper uses the Structural Equation Modeling and the Gaussian Graphical Models as graphical analysis approaches and offers a first insight about the interaction between environmental materiality measures and financial performance. A preliminary step of the scientific research consisted of a hand-mapping investigation about materiality conditions. Starting from the Materiality Map developed by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, this paper extends the main concept about materiality and investigates it on three different content ranges, which focus on the general environmental policy of the company, the targets set, and its concrete footprint. The methodology approaches were grounded on a newly compiled dataset provided by the Thomson Reuters database for 194 Economic European Area oil and gas companies. The results provide significant evidences for the manifestation of materiality and emphasize the informational content of the individual environmental measures as an important condition for its financial impact. Adding to the environmental-financial performance relationship, our findings have both practical and academic relevance for the economic field and sustainable growth goals. (shrink)

Educators and policy makers confront challenging questions of ethics, justice, and equity on a regular basis. Should teachers retain a struggling student if it means she will most certainly drop out? Should an assignment plan favor middle-class families if it means strengthening the school system for all? These everyday dilemmas are both utterly ordinary and immensely challenging, yet there are few opportunities and resources to help educators think through the ethical issues at stake. Drawing on research and methods developed in (...) the Justice in Schools project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education,_ Dilemmas of Educational Ethics_ introduces a new interdisciplinary approach to achieving practical wisdom in education, one that honors the complexities inherent in educational decision making and encourages open discussion of the values and principles we should collectively be trying to realize in educational policy and practice. This article examined the personal profiles of the Heads of Government of countries in South/North America and how they communicated with their audiences on institutional measures to contain COVID-19. Analyses were carried out on data collected from Twitter from November-2019 to November-2020. This study includes: i)quantitative analysis, measuring categories and emphases in the communication of tweets, retweets, likes, and comments on matters relevant to the pandemic; ii)qualitative analysis that allowed evaluating speeches to identify political interference and the effectiveness of communication (...) at critical moments of the pandemic. It was possible to infer that each president has his singularities and understanding about Social Media’s use as a more direct communication tool with his audience. It was also found that successful communication is not directly proportional to the volume of messages on Twitter, but to socio-political aspects and institutional leadership that can make a difference in Social Media in combating COVID-19. Compreender a violência na sociedade contemporânea requer o mapeamento dos fatores geradores de atos violentos bem como sua prevenção por meio de políticas públicas e de processos educacionais. Este artigo traz algumas reflexões sobre a racionalidade comunicativa e a violência escolar no contexto da crescente exclusão social e a crise de horizontes utópicos para a construção da educação e da formação de sujeitos de direitos. A abordagem metodológica está ancorada na perspectiva da análise de conteúdo de Laurence Bardin (2016), do (...) documento ‘Violência escolar e bullying: relatório sobre a situação mundial’, publicado pela Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (UNESCO). São analisadas as pretensões de validade das informações e dos dados considerados relevantes por meio da elaboração de dois eixos principais para analisar a violência escolar apresentada no relatório: a) definições e amparos legais; b) impactos e principais desafios sobre a violência escolar e o bullying. Nessa perspectiva, recorreremos à Racionalidade Comunicativa, ponto central da Teoria do Agir Comunicativo, de Jürgen Habermas, para refletir sobre os achados e saber quais as bases consideradas relevantes para se construir uma educação para a paz alicerçada no diálogo e no entendimento. Discusses the relationship between the exercise and development of autonomy and analyses their implications for liberalism and liberal education. Section 2.1 proves that since the liberal state values adults’ exercise of autonomy, it must also value children's development of autonomy. Section 2.2 argues that state paternalism towards children, in particular, state efforts to help children develop the capacity for autonomy even against their parents’ wishes, is consistent with liberal principles. Section 2.3 argues that parents have privileges rather than rights to (...) control their children's upbringing, but that these privileges nonetheless offer ample scope for parents to exert independent paternalistic control. Finally, Section 2.4 argues that the liberal ideal of autonomy not merely permits but requires the intrusion of the state into the child's life, specifically in the form of compulsory, ‘detached’, autonomy‐driven schools. The ageing population has become one of the major issues, with manifold consequences upon the economic welfare and elderly living standards satisfaction. This paper grasps an in-depth assessment framework of the ageing phenomenon in connection with the labor market, with significant implications upon economic welfare, across the European Union. We configure our research on four distinctive groups of the EU–27 countries based on the Active Ageing Index mapping, during 1995–2018, by acknowledging the different intensities of ageing implications on economic well-being (...) from one group of countries to another. The methodological endeavor is based on Structural Equation Modelling. Empirical results highlight that the ageing dimensions and labor market productivity notably shape the socioeconomic development of EU countries, visibly distinguished across the four panels. The economic development induced remarkable positive spillover effects on the welfare of older people, under the influence of the ageing credentials and dynamic shaping factors. Our research advances the literature underpinnings on this multifaceted topic by investigation made on specific groups of the EU countries and distinctive strategies proposed for each group of countries, as effective results for improving the well-being of older people. Constant policy rethinking and adequate strategies should be a top priority for each specific group of EU countries, to further sustain the ageing phenomenon, with positive implications mostly on elderly welfare. Among Singularists, it has been widely accepted that one can have singular thought by acquaintance, and that acquaintance encompasses the perceptual acquiring, memorizing and communicating of singular thoughts. I defend the possibility of having a singular thought via extending acquaintance to intermediaries other than just through written and spoken words. On my account, singular thought includes two types of representations, namely indexical-iconic representation and indexical-discursive representation. Also, it is determined by two constraints: (i) the acquaintance constraint: singular thought includes a (...) causal-historical relation to the object; and (ii) the cognitive significance constraint: we have a cognitive capacity to deliberately encode an indexical-iconic representation into an indexical-discursive representation, which enables us to have a singular thought. My aim in this paper is to examine how Kent Bach's theory of singular thought about material objects meets the requirements of transmitting de re thought. I identify a certain possible paradox haunting Bach's move of extending acquaintance in order to widen the scope of singular thought and I attempt to answer this possible paradox. First, I briefly present the manner in which Bach motivates extended acquaintance and which constraints he puts on it. I then address the problem of the (...) sorites paradox which might lead not only to Bach's communication-based de re thoughts, but perception-based de re thoughts in general, thus defined. Finally, I offer my tentative solution to the problem of extended acquaintance which consists in introducing two constraints on singular thought, namely (i) the (external) acquaintance constraint and (ii) the (internal) cognitive significance constraint, and two types of representations, namely indexical-iconic representations and indexical-discursive representations which are together crucial for having a singular thought. In this paper I comment on Inan’s notions of propositional and objectual curiosity. Even though Inan offers an interesting and intuitive distinction between propositional and objectual curiosity, I want to question two aspects of his theory of curiosity. One aspect concerns his thesis that propositional curiosity is interdependent on epistemic attitudes such as belief, certainty and interest. Another aspect of his theory that I discuss is his thesis that objectual curiosity is not reducible to propositional curiosity. In more detail, in (...) the fi rst part, I start off by explaining what propositional curiosity is according to Inan and I bring up two worries that I call: (i) over-complexity as a result of subjectivity and (ii) overcomplexity as a result of dynamics for the above mentioned epistemic attitudes. Both worries stress the problem of over-complexity of Inan’s theory of propositional curiosity. In the second part, I argue that objectual curiosity is, contrary to Inan’s hypothesis, reducible to propositional curiosity. I further argue that the object of wh- questions that, according to Inan, express objectual curiosity can either be about the truth value of general or singular proposition. In addition, I suggest that only the reading where wh- questions express curiosity in a form of de re reading and have a singular proposition as their content is the one that is compatible with Inan’s notion of objectual curiosity. We all think we know who Batman and Superman are. They are polar opposites who both happen to wear their underwear over spandex pants, or at least they once did. So, for comic purists and fans of the cinematic DC Universe it may seem bold to claim that Batman is a true superhero and that Superman is not a true superhero. As a matter of a fact, we want to claim something even stronger: something we will prove independently, without only (...) comparing them and without having to worry if one comic character happens to depend on the other. We plan to demonstrate that it is not a matter of comparison between Batman and Superman when it comes to the concept: a true superhero. There is something else that is crucial for each comic character that makes one a true superhero, whereas the other is not—and we are going to reveal what this is exactly. (shrink)

Discusses contemporary liberalism's meaning, character, and justification. Section 1.1 argues that three constitutive commitments define contemporary liberalism and distinguish it from other theories. Section 1.2 demonstrates that, contrary to political liberalism's claims, these three commitments are best linked by the value of autonomy. Hence, contemporary liberalism is best understood as displaying weak perfectionism. Section 1.3 analyses autonomy more carefully, developing it as a substantive notion of higher‐order preference formation within a context of cultural coherence, plural constitutive personal values and beliefs, (...) openness to other's evaluations of oneself, and a sufficiently developed moral, spiritual or aesthetic, intellectual, and emotional personality. The goal of this book is to develop a coherent liberal political theory of children's education provision. This goal is motivated by three observations: although people's intuitions about liberalism already guide their approach to education policy, their intuitions are often wrong; in liberal states, liberal political principles should and do have important ramifications for education policy; and educational outcomes have important ramifications for the health and preservation of the liberal polity. The book does not justify liberalism's value—instead takes that as (...) given—but it does address the relationship between formal schooling and other forms of education, as well as discusses the difference between liberal and democratic theories of education. This article will reflect on the practice of prayer during childhood and the relationship between this practice and child development. Through bibliographic review, the concepts about child development and prayer life as an expression of infant religiosity are briefly analyzed, from a Christian perspective. This article will reveal how the act of praying can be considered a natural practice in childhood, and beneficial to the processes like language acquisition and faith development. This discussion has some intersections with "narrative theology" and (...) the "theology of the child", concepts that have attracted growing interest of theological and pedagogical researches. Magna Carat is a highly significant document that found the way into the rights and the constitutions. Magna Carat is a symbol of human and constitutional rights. Social insurance is part of the social security and the recognition of social security as a basic human right is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948 at the Palais de Chaillot, Paris and furthermore the European Conventions on Human Rights, specially (...) the article 6. Magna Carat demonstrated the limitations from the arbitrarily. Magna Carat is a foundation of the powers of Parliament and the legal principles, as the rule of law, the rule that everybody has equality before the law. It promised the access to justice. In that respect Magna Carta is still a challenge for many states and officials. The myth of Magna Carta is the protection of the personal rights and is held in great respect by the legal communities against the arbitrary of the authority In respect of the aim of this international conference to see the way how these principles have found their implementation in contemporary legislations as well as to identify the problems that occur regarding these rights, an overview of the Albanian right to appeal for the social insurance rights.
